Supported sitting
Use the person’s usual stable seating or another safely supported sitting position. Keep the pelvis, trunk, head and feet supported as normally required.
Use this guide to prepare preliminary measurements for walkers, gait trainers, standing frames and related mobility support. It can be used for children or adults.
You do not need to complete every field. Enter “Not sure” or “Unable to measure safely” where appropriate.
Measurements support SafetyAid’s equipment review but do not confirm final sizing, suitability or safety.
Never ask the person to sit or stand without their usual safe support. Do not remove necessary braces, mobility equipment or assistance merely to take a measurement. Stop if the person becomes uncomfortable, unstable or experiences pain.
If standing cannot be completed safely, record “Unable to measure safely.” SafetyAid may request an alternative measurement, photo, video or professional input later.
Use the person’s usual stable seating or another safely supported sitting position. Keep the pelvis, trunk, head and feet supported as normally required.
Take standing measurements only when the person can remain safely supported using their usual assistance, standing frame, walker, rails or caregiver support.
Do not attempt unsupported standing. Complete the sitting or floor-based measurements that can be taken safely and leave the remaining fields as “Unable to measure safely.”
A family member or caregiver may prepare preliminary measurements. Complex standing, gait, posture or mobility needs may benefit from help from a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, orthotist or rehabilitation professional.
Professional involvement is helpful when needed but is not required to begin a SafetyAid assessment.
This guide supports equipment preparation only. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment or clinical assessment.
Used for walkers, forearm walkers, posterior walkers, standing frames, gait trainers, and mobility support systems.
Use the lettered body measurements below with the diagram. SafetyAid & Co. may also ask for walking, standing, or support videos before final recommendation.
