Assessment Support

Measurement guidance

Measurements help narrow configuration options, but they must be taken carefully and interpreted together with posture, function, environment and professional advice.

Prepare before measuring

Use a firm tape measure, note the child’s usual posture and ask another adult or professional to assist where needed. Never force a joint or position.

Seating measurements

Hip width, seat depth, lower-leg length, trunk height, shoulder height and relevant lateral-support levels.

Standing measurements

Overall height, chest and pelvic levels, lower-limb alignment, foot position and support heights.

Mobility measurements

Standing height, elbow or forearm level, hip width, support level, step pattern and environmental clearances.

Important safeguards

  • Record units clearly: centimetres or inches
  • Take each measurement more than once
  • Do not estimate through bulky clothing
  • Note fixed asymmetry or limited range
  • Ask a professional when positioning is complex

Share measurements in context

Measurements should be linked to the child assessment, current photographs where appropriate, intended use and delivery route.

These instructions are general preparation guidance. Product-specific measurement forms or professional review may still be required before quotation or configuration.
